Senior Portfolio Theme:
The theme for my portfolio is an experiment to get a glimpse into my mind. Music is a huge part of my life wether or not I need it for a distraction or to fill some empty void I'm experiencing. Or even if I just want to listen to music like everyone else. Every time I listen to any song, my mind makes up a whole jumble of images, each one being just out of sorts and making no sense to the song or certain objects getting associated to certain lyrics. In my portfolio I want to zone in on that concept. My goal in this experiment is to educate myself on how the brain works in association to registration when we think about music. Once that is broken down and I'm able to brainstorm, I want to create a visual representation for those songs. Not only will my portfolio accomplish that, I want to challenge myself on accurately drawing the images I come up for each song. Hopefully as my viewers get to experience these pieces, I have sparked an interest in their mind to figure out how their mind works with music too.
Piece 1 for my theme
Piece 1 for my experimental pieces
This is just a collage, I was going to add more but I decided not to for now. It has no theme really, i just picked images I liked and I wanted no white space.

piece number 2 for my experimental
It was supposed to be me working on drawing things in a sort of warped perception because I took a bunch of pictures on my phone at a 0.5 angle, and I didn't know how I wanted a bunch of pictures put together on one paper, I was kinda stuck in my collage idea, so I sort of edited the photos and how I wanted them in Photoshop and just started drawing. I used a cross hatching type of technique for the shading and thats really it. In the middle of it there was a point where I didn't like any of the negative space in-between the cluster of drawings so I just cut it out with an exact knife. Something Id like to do is out the paper on something more solid so its just not an award flimsy piece weird shaped drawing. But other than that I think I like it.
Pice number 2 for my experimental
This is a piece for my home-test for Cooper. I honestly got held back on my pieces for my theme due to me working on two other pieces for Cooper. But the prompt for this one was an arms view to a hug. So I took a picture of Selaye, and used marker and a ballpoint one to draw her. And then I had this idea to had the words hug me in a fun simple font to add to it, originally it was supposed to be Selaye in the same position and have the classroom background but Ive been told recently. lot to try something simpler so this is my attempt at that. Hence why it counts as an experimental piece. I just have to glue the words onto Selaye which I haven't done yet because I don't have glue at home. A thing I wish I did differently was color it in without marker. Or at least do the face differently.
Sketches for piece 2 for my theme
So I have two pieces in progress for my theme. Both are in the classroom, and it still has to due with my theme, I didn't change it lol. But I can't say much because I don't have much of either on them done due to me stuck on pieces for the home test. But the one on the shelf above the sinks, I plan on taking it home on Friday and resuming it. And the one I started with the covid divider that I painted, I plan on continuing it next week.
